Nancy Pelosi Suggests, Without Evidence, That Pro-Palestinian Protestors Have Russian Ties

“They are in front of my house all the time,” Nancy Pelosi explains in a CNN interview earlier this month about pro-Palestinian protestors outside of her home. “For them to call for a ceasefire is Mr. Putin’s message…make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see.” She continues to emphasize these protesters that are “connected to Russia” and should be investigated by the FBI in the same interview.

However, there is a lack of causal evidence to demonstrate the connection between these pro-Palestinian protestors and Russian influence. When Pelosi received criticism for her initial assertion, a spokesperson representing her referenced an X post by a professor at Columbia University who argues “Putin benefits from continued war in gaza and expanded chaos in the middle east,” which does not prove the specific pro-Palestinian protestors are influenced by Russia. While some politicians concur Putin may use tactics to discredit the Democratic party because he favors the Trump administration, evidence has yet to surface supporting the idea that recent pro-Palestinian protests were catalyzed by Russian interference. In fact, a source close to a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia scandal describes how US intelligence “made it look like Putin supported Trump,” when “the evidence points the other way.”
