CDC Falsely Claims Breastfeeding After COVID Vaccination is Proven to be Safe

The CDC has routinely insisted Covid-19 vaccination is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. According to the CDC, vaccination during pregnancy can even benefit the baby, and “reports have shown that breastfeeding people who have received mRNA COVID-19 vaccines have antibodies in their breast milk, which could help protect their babies.” The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommended pregnant and breastfeeding women be vaccinated against COVID-19.

But a new study published on September 19 exploring the biodistribution of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines in human breast milk finds “that the COVID-19 vaccine mRNA is not confined to the injection site but spreads systemically…For lactating mothers receiving the vaccine, our results suggest that the vaccine LNPs will reach the breast tissue.” The study follows a similar paper published in 2022 concerning the detection of messenger RNA COVID-19 vaccines in human breast milk, which also found trace mRNA present in breastmilk. While each study may be limited to a small sample size, 13 and 11 women respectively, mRNA was present in the majority of participants’ breastmilk in both experiments. Although the study’s authors state that they believe it is safe to breastfeed after vaccination, they write that “the minimum mRNA vaccine dose to elicit an immune reaction in infants <6 months is unknown,” suggesting that caution may be warranted.

These findings negate what the CDC and other similar institutions repeated about COVID-19 vaccine safety for pregnant women. It also affirms that mRNA is not confined to the injection site. Pfizer’s data on pregnant and breastfeeding women is still incomplete, has yet to appear in a peer-reviewed journal or pre-print, and has not been submitted to the FDA for evaluation. Moderna’s trial is also ongoing, and the company has not released its data. Despite being excluded from the main vaccine trials, many pregnant and breastfeeding women were mandated to get vaccinated in accordance with CDC guidance.
